Hi all,

Through the genesreunited uk site I have been in contact with John Nicholson from NZ as it was thought that we had common ancestors in Donald of the Kichp Stewart and Catherine McLaren of 3 Line.

John sent me the following information that he has gathered from IGI Batches;

Peter (John) McRostie c. 22Oct 1775 in Monzievaird & Strowan, Perthshire. C113832 married =
Margaret Stewart on 14 June 1799 in Comrie. M113414
Margaret Stewart c 10 Sept. 1775 in Comrie, Father Daniel Stewart and Mother Catherine McLaren C113314

Daniel Stewart married Catherine McLaren on 16 July 1776 in Comrie M113414
Donald Stewart married Catherine McLaren on 29 June 1776 in Balquhidder. M113314

Well, I think John has matched his Peter McRostie with the wrong Margaret Stewart here. She is indeed our Margaret Stewart but as we know she married Duncan McIntyre in 1798 and they have been identified in both the 1841 and 1851 censuses. We also know that she died in 1855 and therefore her death record will be in the statutory records, which gives the husband’s name and that she is buried in Leachin of Achra. So we can safely say that we can accurately verify our information.

However, John, believing to have been connected to our Margaret Stewart has done some research into her mother’s family of McLarens and I will post his findings in the Non-Stewart families section.

Anne
