Yesterday a power overload caused a transformer to blow in our neighborhood, knocking out power for a few hours. When power was restored, we found that our computer's motherboard had been scorched -- apparently our surge protector was too old and had been in need of replacement.

So, we are now a computer-free household. No email, no internet. I've had to run down to the library to borrow one of their computers so I can post this message. I don't know when we'll be able to buy a new computer -- we'll have to look at our insurance policy to see if we have coverage, because otherwise it will probably be a few months before we can afford a new computer. Anyone blessed with money or computers they don't need, feel free to toss some our way. Laughing

Good news! We have a new computer! As of last night, internet and email access have returned to the Olar household. Now begins the long process of reconstructing the addressbook, old email folders, and extracting files off the old harddrives . . . .
