WELCOME to the Stewarts of Balquhidder Research Forum
Failte oirbh a na Forum a na Stiubhartach Balquhidder
This forum is intended for genealogical discussions related to descendant branches of the Stewarts of Balquhidder Clan (and related families). That is, Stewarts who resided in (or whose ancestors resided in) southern Perthshire, including the parishes of Balquhidder, Comrie, Callander, Kilmadock, Kincardine by Doune, Port of Menteith, and Aberfoyle, as well as some parts of northern Stirlingshire and/or who are descended from the founding family of the Stewarts of Baldorran (otherwise collectively known as The Stewarts of Balquhidder).
We regret that we do not have the resources to deal with inquiries pertaining to other Stewart families who were not related to the Stewarts of Balquhidder. We would highly encourage our kin from the Stewarts of Atholl and Appin and other Highland Stewart clans to start their own web site and bulletin board like this one. And we would be happy to assist them in doing so.
For an introduction to The Stewarts of Balquhidder Research Project, please go here:

VISTORS, GUESTS & REGISTERED USERS
As a VISITOR or GUEST you are welcome to read messages in any of the publically viewable forums, but you are not authorized to post any replies or messages. If you wish to post any messages you must register as a user. (This is a security precaution to avoid spam in our forums.)
Once you have registered, please post a message introducing yourself in the "Introduce Yourself Here" forum. (Even if you've been a long time member from pre-forum days, please reintroduce yourself to the board.)
REGISTERED USERS Once you've registered (remember it's FREE!) as a user on this board then you may post messages in our PUBLIC/OPEN FORUM section, but you can READ-ONLY any messages posted in the MEMBERS FORUMS.
Upgrade to full member-status. If you believe you are descended from any branch of our clan and/or you wish to participate in the members-only discussions, please leave a detailed message in the PUBLIC FORUMS section. We will review your submission and upgrade your status as appropriate.
MEMBERS FORUMS
These forums are intended for the use of Members of the Stewarts of Balquhidder Research Group. These forums are visible to the general public, but only Members of the Stewarts of Balquhidder Research Group can post messages.
Membership in the Stewarts of Balquhidder Research Group is FREE and the requirements are simple:
1. A reasonable and demonstrable belief that you are descended from any branch of our clan, or a demonstrated interest in contributing to our research project. In other words, if you believe you have something of value to contribute then we would love to have you in the group.
2. A willingness to share your Stewart research with other members of the group without charge. Your research may be a little or a lot; there is no minimum requirement. We don't judge the quantity of your research. PRIVATE FORUMS
The Private Forums section is for the exclusive use of members of the Stewarts of Balquhidder Research Group. These discussions are not visible to the public; they are visible only to members. Posting of personal information or information related to living persons should be done only in the Private Forums.
POSTING LINKS and ATTACHMENTS
To include a link to any website in your message, simply copy the site address from your web browser and paste it into your message. (New users and members should see FAQ for more information on posting links.)
It is not possible to upload an attachment to any messages posted on this forum.
- If your attachment is TEXT-ONLY then simply COPY/PASTE it into the body of your post.
- If your attachment is graphic then contact one of the Site Admins (Chuck Speed or Ryk Brown) and we will upload your attachment to our web site and provide a link for your post here. CONDUCT
This is a public forum with "family friendly" content. Profane, abusive, or discriminatory language is not permitted and constitutes a violation of the Terms of Service Agreement with HostMyBB. Such conduct will result in your post being deleted and possible banning from this forum.
The use of GAELIC or LATIN is permitted here (and at times is essential), however, as a courtesy to our Anglo readers, please provide a translation of your non-English posts.
POSTING GUIDELINES
One principal is extremely helpful in making this form useful to you and other researchers:
Please try to keep all postings related to the same topic in the same location.
To this end:
1. Before posting a new topic please do a quick search to see if that topic already has a thread going. If so, please post in the existing thread.
2. Please do not start a new thread for a family/topic that already has an existing thread. Please use the existing thread. (Yes, this is the same as point #1. It bears repeating.)
3. If you are posting about a brand new topic/family, please try to post in the most relevant section. i.e. If it's about an Ardvorlich cadet family, please post in the Ardvorlich section.
4. Please do not use email or private message to discuss genealogical research information. Email or private messages are not visible to other researchers and the information sent in those formats is more likely to get lost. The point of this forum is to keep genealogical research information accessible to other researchers. If you send information privately via email or private messages you deprive other researchers of the opportunity to discuss that information.
5. Please do not post genealogical research information in the Private Members Only forum, unless there is a valid reason to keep this information hidden from public view (i.e. it pertains to living persons).
QUESTIONS
If you have any question whatsoever about our research project or this forum, please post your questions in the "Instructions, FAQ, Announcements, Surveys, and Administration" section and one of our Site Admins, Moderators or Members will be pleased to assist you.
Slainte mhath ("Cheers", lit. "good health")

| I am quite sure this is my family. We came to Renfrew Ontario, and to MacNab in 1819, and I have our family chart from there on. |
