I hope this is okay. I wanted us to have a list of new songs that were not embedded in a poll and that we could update when we hear about new ones for the album. I got a count of 14. (Edit: Now a count of 24.) Are there any that I've left off? There are supposed to be 32 or so that they are working on.

1. Turn it On
2. Flight of the Galvatron (not on album possible B-side?)
3. What She Came For (formally Favorite Lie)
4. Ulysses
5. Katherine Kiss Me (formally Girls, You’ll Never Know)
6. No You Girls
7. Dream Again
8. Live Alone
9. Can’t Stop Feeling
10. Lucid Dreams
11. Send Him Away (formally Can’t You Let Me Stay Tonight)
12. Bite Hard - (formally Ride Together)
13. Twilight Omens (working title- Blessing)
14. English Goodbye (not on album possible B-side?)
15. Anyone In Love (B-side to Ulysses Single)
16. Doing Fine (not on album possible B-side?)
17. A New Kind of Thrill (B-side to Ulysses Single)
18. Trigger 8 (I am unable to match this to any album track)
19. Trigger 7 ((I an unable to match this to any album track)
20. Tradition (I am unable to match this to any album track)
21. Ulysses -The Disco Blood Bath Effect
22. Ulysses -Mickey Moonlight Remix

Ride Together?

Either English Goodbye or Live Alone has probably gone too as Paul said they sounded very similar....

"It's the opposite of punk/pop, which took something that was wonderful and removed all the dirt," Kapranos says. The approach is best-heard on "Ride Together," a "full-on upbeat, riding across the desert rock song. A lot of the other stuff is more rhythm- and dance-based," he says.

Really accurate list, guys. Wink We'll create the poll you mentioned when the album is finally released. No need to change it for the time being.
Cheers

"Can't Stop Feeling"? Is this a reworked version of the old demo? (or at least I think it was a demo?) And by old, I want to say... 2005? Or thereabouts?

Sorry, I haven't really been keeping up with this "we're recording a new album" business, oops. Embarassed

yes, apparently they re-recorded it. i don't particularly like when bands "re-record" lovely old hidden treasures, but we'll see.

I'm not sure they see they see those "re recorded" songs like that. It seems it's more like work in progress. If they didn't released CSF before it was because the weren't happy with the old versions. The same with Turn it On,

Surely CSF will be more polemic because we know one of the old versions and it seems the new one is pretty different but the good thing is that we'll have two versions of the same song (and the old one will stilll a lovely hidden treasure Wink )

A while ago, a reworked version of Doing Fine was also a contender for inclusion on the third album. I don't know if it still is though....

God i'd forgotten that song, dnt even have it anymore i don't think! Remember it being fairly pleasant, though wouldn't be surprised if it had fallen off the radar since. Can anyone PM it?

i thought they didn't release turn it on because of that crazy girl who thought they were trying to communicate with her through their songs...

Thanks for the info, bb.

I think a demo that old could stand a re-visit. I mean, it was cute little tune then, but from an artist's standpoint, everything is a work in process and all that...

I just don't like what they did to Your Diary when they rerecorded that. Confused

(Also? Your icon? Swoon.)

Margarita:

There's a great interview with Alex when they were recording the second album in NYC. The writer heard Turn it On and other songs and Alex were explaning the meaning behind the lyrics. Then he said he wasn't happy with that song and they wanted rerecord it. The writer said the studio wasn't happy with that because they liked the song but Alex and the boys were very protective with their material and the studio couldn't make them change of opinion (then he compared FF with "other NME bands": He said FF were different because they were fighting for their artistic vision meanwhile the "other NME bands" were more interested in being photographed by some tabloid with some coke in their nose).
Some time later the band announced the list of the songs and Turn it On wasn't there. So my guess is that they didn't like the old version and a) the studio didn't let them rerecord the song; b) there wasn't enough time; c) they rerecorded it but they knew it could be better.

PD: I'll try to find the name of the magazine. It was American.
