12 MONTH COUNTER TO THE 98th ANIVERSARY

Hello Members.
I have added this sub topic by way of seeing if it generates any interest.
When the Titanic sank over two & a half miles into the Atlantic Ocean on April 15 1912,
Her physical form may have vanished but an almighty spectre still remains.
Neither before or since has a single maritime tragedy stirred such worldwide interest.
Now, along with enormous national attention, echoes of the doomed White Star liner, TITANIC, have come, and been available to all via the World Wide Web, TV and films.
Many websites on the net devoted to Titanic cover a host of topics,
In particular, interest is focused on original reports of passenger’s and crew and their memories on board Titanic, made several years after the disaster.
Titanic is a story with many different levels, perhaps the greatest maritime disaster but one that has so many touching personal stories.
So members with this in mind that is why I have opened this forum, I hope you can come up with something on this topic.

How The Victims Of Titanic May Of Died
There is a very interesting article on ET that attempts to explain the various ways that the victims of the Titanic Disaster may have met thier fate.
It makes for very interesting reading. The article is entitled "CSI Titanic: Who Died How?" and was written by Luke Owens
For Copyright© reasons, I cannot reproduce the article here, but if you CLICK: THIS LINK you will be redirected to the article in question. It is a most interesting read and well worth taking the time to read it.

RMS Titanic, RMS Olympic & HMHS Britannic
(Physical Differences In Appearance)
There were two external ways to tell OLYMPIC apart from her younger sister, TITANIC. Toward the front of *B* Deck, the Olympic has evenly spaced windows, and the promenade deck was fully open for its entire length. The Titanic on the other hand was fitted with a windowed cover over one third of the length of the Promenade Deck, and the windows on *B* Deck had irregular spacing. (See photographs above)
Ok, whilst the three Liners built by the White Star Line, (RMS Olympic, RMS Titanic & HMHS Britannic ), were often referred to as *Sister Ships* and thus identical, there were in fact a number of physical differences between all three ships, some very noticable and some not so. This meant that although technically the ships were indeed *sisters*, they were not in fact *identical.
Ok, so to get the ball rolling on this topic, I will start you all of with what I have found out on ...

Shipping lines competed for customers, so ocean liners like the Titanic were designed to be as fast, luxurious and safe as possible.
Why was Titanic built?
The 'Titanic' and her sister ships Olympic and Britannic were built by the White Star Line to rival Mauretania and Lusitania – ships belonging to the competing Cunard line. When the Titanic was launched, it was the largest moving object ever built - 269 metres long and weighing 46,000 tons.
Why was Titanic described as a 'luxury hotel at sea'?
The accommodation on Titanic was luxurious and spacious. In First Class there were many new attractions such as squash courts, a Turkish bath, a gymnasium, a barber shop and also the first swimming pool on board a ship. Even the cheape...
